New directions in travel writing and travel studies

The volume New Directions in Travel Writing and Travel Studies is a collection of articles in travel studies and travel writing submitted for publication following an open call for papers and followed by peer review. The articles' intellectual and thematic cohesion rests on the general observation that histories of civilization are also histories of travel, mobilities, migrations, and their assimilation in new topographies (journeys, exodus, nomadism, pilgrimage, emigration, (im)migration, diaspora, exploration, dislocation, etc.). Histories of cultures and civilizations also reflect the recording (under the form of travel accounts and travel literature, documents, maps, illustrations, etc.) and the reception of the particular experiences by the public.
