Focusing on the creation of rubble pile asteroid simulants, this thesis explores the sensitivity of asteroid disruption thresholds and fragment size distributions to internal void distributions. It advances the understanding of fragmentation processes in the asteroid belt and provides a method to infer the internal structures of these asteroids. By applying numerical impact experiments to asteroid Steins, it reveals insights into its geological features, suggesting that certain structures are primordial while others indicate pre-existing voids.
