The notion of sustainable development carries an inherently processual meaning. Given that organizations play a key role in transitions toward sustainable development, it is the general aim of this thesis to apply a process organization perspective to various phenomena that are of particular importance in the context of corporate sustainability. This doctoral thesis consists of two empirical essays and one conceptual essay. The first essay focuses on the role of organizational products in the evolution of organizational identity. The second essay investigates how organizations can navigate the paradox of authenticity and market commercialization over time. The third essay critically discusses how organizations can translate the inherently processual character of sustainable development from the societal level onto the organizational level in corporate sustainability accounting.
