It begins with an introduction to the region's musical geography and examines the connections and divisions within Westfalen's historical context. The text addresses how historical constructs of space relate to creative environments. It highlights the mobility and cultural exchanges of early modern musicians in Westfalen, providing a regional historical comparison. The interplay of Dutch and Italian musical culture at the lippischen court around 1600 is also discussed, along with the role of Agostino Steffani, an opera composer, as a bishop in Paderborn from 1710 to 1718.
