Born from an obsession, this evocation of an ancient Egyptian queen reflects the obsession with a failed heresy, that of Nefertiti, who sought to overthrow tradition using beauty, respect, and art. Another failed heresy is experienced by the author: a Yugoslav before becoming Serbian, she breathed in the exaltation and then the fall of a movement that did not want to align with the Soviet bloc nor be colonized by the West. Thus, Nefertiti, condemned as a heretic herself, becomes the symbol of an ancestral world that is more relevant than ever, characterized by power struggles, envy, women subjugated to patriarchal oligarchy, and marginalization.
