Lake Balaton for me has never been just an exceptionally large, fresh, soft-water lake resplendent with aery visions; it has also been a countryside on a human scale, replete with tilled land, villages, and the houses and gardens of relations and friends. As a writer and an organizer I have always spoken of this. So I gladly undertook to co-author a fine picture book so presenting the Balaton country that the wide surface of the water features as just part of a wider landscape.
