The Civic Museum of Castelvecchio in Verona, one of the richest and most important museum institutions in Italy, is located in the imposing medieval fortress of Castelvecchio, built between 1354 and 1356 under the direction of Cangrande II della Scala. It was restored with modern criteria in 1957 by Carlo Scarpa, considered one of the greatest architects of the twentieth century.
