Can I do what I wanted my parents to do? Can I give myself what I wanted my parents to give me? This is life's work. Some of us don't know how. And we expect our parents to have known how. Everything you want them to give you, turn it around, and give it to yourself. Life is good. I have myself now. And then everything I want, I give to you too. And I feel such joy. I come to see that that is the gift I give myself. But until I gave it to myself, I couldn't give it to you. And to give it to you is to give it to my very own self. -Byron Katie
