Více o knize

This study is the first dedicated examination of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Auschwitz, addressing a previously overlooked aspect of the camp's history. The limited documentation and memoirs regarding their imprisonment, along with the small number of category IBV (Internationale Bibelforscher-Vereinigung) prisoners, contributed to their anonymity among the vast prisoner population. The research reveals that while exact numbers are elusive due to record gaps, estimates suggest that between several dozen and over a hundred Witnesses were held at various times, totaling at least 387 individuals during the camp's nearly five-year operation. The book includes a list of nearly 230 male and female Witnesses, compiled from museum archives, questionnaires, and testimonies from former prisoners and their families. Additionally, it features photographs of 130 Witnesses categorized as IBV. The appendices, which constitute almost half of the book, present accounts and memoirs from those imprisoned, alongside documents and photographs sourced from family and museum archives, enriching the historical narrative of this unique group within the camp.
