Sustainability in architecture is the central theme of this DAM annual. This subject is treated in all its technological, sociological and aesthetic aspects with essays discussing not only innovations in ecological construction but also the question of economic and political attitudes to environmentally conscious architecture. Sustainability was also the guiding principle in the selection of buildings under examination in the annual. The concept of "sustainability" has established itself as a watchword for ecologically responsive building, planning and economics. The increasing interest in sustainable forms has been accompanied by a search for enduring aesthetic qualities. Traditional building forms and methods of craftsmanship as well as completely innovative materials and methods have thus gained in importance. Nachhaltigkeit in der Architektur ist das zentrale Thema dieses DAM-Jahres. Dieses Thema wird in all seinen technologischen, soziologischen und ästhetischen Aspekten behandelt, wobei Essays nicht nur Innovationen im ökologischen Bau diskutieren, sondern auch die Frage nach ökonomischer und politischer Haltung gegenüber umweltbewusster Architektur. Nachhaltigkeit war auch das Leitprinzip bei der Auswahl der zu prüfenden Gebäude im Jahr. Das Konzept der "Nachhaltigkeit" hat sich als Schlagwort für ökologisch bedingtes Bauen, Planen und Ökonomie etabliert. Das zunehmende Interesse an nachhaltigen Formen wurde von einer Suche nach dauerhaften ästhetischen Qualitäten begleitet. Traditionelle Bauformen und Handwerksmethoden sowie komplett innovative Materialien und Methoden haben damit an Bedeutung gewonnen.
