Detective Ellie Reeves - 7: The Girl in the River

Více o knize

The body lay in the river, arms outstretched, long brown hair swirling with the current. Detective Ellie Reeves should be celebrating her friend Mia Norman's wedding, but instead, she’s searching for the missing bride. Just hours earlier, Mia was joyful—what could have gone wrong? In the chaotic dressing room, Ellie finds Mia’s daughter, Pixie, hiding and sobbing. The little girl reveals she was locked in when she heard a man’s voice and her mother crying. Determined to find Mia, Ellie searches the venue and is horrified to discover a body in the river, floating next to a white veil. It’s Tori, Mia’s bridesmaid, shot in the back. Nearby, Ellie finds a button from a man’s shirt and Mia's engagement ring, intensifying the urgency to locate her friend. As forensics reveal that Mia is actually Jesse Habersham, a woman who vanished five years ago, Ellie realizes Mia is likely fleeing from someone. With time running out, Ellie faces her most complex case yet. Can she uncover the truth before her friend is killed? And when the murderer targets innocent Pixie, will Ellie be able to save her from danger?
