New York Past and Present

Více o knize

Unlock the visual and historical treasures of New York through big, beautiful photographs-including gatefolds that open to reveal breathtaking, gleaming images of the world's most famous skyline. Every picture simply pulses with the city's energy: the legions of yellow cabs driving across streets as steam puffs up through the manholes; a brightly colored mural in Harlem; and the elegant plaza in front of Rockefeller Center, filled with umbrella-topped tables and watched over by the giant, gilded statue of Prometheus. A close-up of the Statue of Liberty focuses on her face and arm, lifting her torch high into a brilliant blue sky. Drawings and paintings help capture four centuries of New York history, from the Native Americans to the waves of immigrants who came in search of a brighter tomorrow to today's hustle and bustle.
