Liz se od dětství věnuje umění, kreativitě a čtení. Po absolvování bakalářského studia grafického designu a výtvarného umění na Univerzitě v San Franciscu se rozhodla, že nechce pracovat v typickém zaměstnání od devíti do pěti. Po mnoha nápadech na podnikání, slzách, pozdních nocích a přílišné kávě založila nakladatelství Louie's Little Lessons Publishing s odvážným sloníkem Louiem. Tato série vznikla po narození jejího prvního dítěte, když zjistila, že je těžké najít knihy, které by podporovaly odvahu při překonávání náročných milníků dětství. Chtěla, aby její děti našly vnitřní odvahu přijímat změny, protože je to zábavné, ne proto, že by jim bylo řečeno, že to musí udělat. Série knih pomohla tisícům dětí po celém světě a autorka doufá, že bude inspirovat po celý život.
