Welche Rolle spielt die Theologie im gegenwärtigen öffentlichen Ethikdiskurs? Welche Rolle kann sie spielen? Welche Rolle sollte sie spielen – und welche nicht? Die vorliegende Studie geht diesen Fragen am Beispiel der nationalen Ethikgremien Deutschlands und der Schweiz nach. Auf der Grundlage qualitativer Interviews der dort vertretenen Theologen und ausgewählter Nichttheologen gelingt es, aktuelle und authentische Einblicke in die Rolle(n) der theologischen Ethik in plural zusammengesetzten Gesellschaften zu gewinnen. Als theoretischer Referenzrahmen dienen dabei vier gegenwärtige paradigmatische Entwürfe, die Theologie und Öffentlichkeit einander zuordnen. Im Ergebnis erweist sich eine christologisch konturierte Öffentliche Theologie als der überzeugendste und tragfähigste Ansatz. Die Autorin wurde 2018 mit der vorliegenden Arbeit habilitiert. [On the Role of Theology in Public Ethical Discourse. An Analysis Based on the National Ethics Councils of Germany and Switzerland] What role does theology play in contemporary public ethical discourse? What role can theology play? What role should theology play – and what role should theology not play? This study explores these questions based on the examples of the national ethics councils of Germany and Switzerland. Qualitative interviews with the councils’s representatives of theology and with selected non-theological members facilitate current and authentic insights into the role(s) of theological ethics in pluralistic societies. Four contemporary paradigmatic approaches on the relationship of theology and the public sphere serve as the theoretical frame of reference. The result reveals a christologically contoured Public Theology as the most compelling and viable approach.

Wie hängt Schuldübernahme zusammen mit verantwortlichem Handeln? Diesen und anderen Fragen wird kritisch nachgespürt in Bezugnahme auf Bonhoeffers gesamte Werke, v. a. seine Ethik.
