Er wählt seine Motive selbst aus, überträgt jedoch die Autorschaft an professionelle Fotografen, um ein möglichst objektives Bild zu schaffen. Im Gegensatz zur perfekten Werbefotografie weisen sie oft kleine, kaum wahrnehmbare Makel auf. Anders als bei den ersten Konzeptkünstlern konstituiert bei Williams nicht nur die Idee ein Kunstwerk; er legt großen Wert auf die bildnerische Qualität und technische Präzision seiner Arbeiten.
