Diane Coplin Hammond Knihy

2) Alan Titchmarsh: Bláznovství - Jako v Romeovi a Julii: znesvářené rodiny, milenci a zapovězená láska. Uprostřed vyšetřování musí navíc náhle odletět do Egypta, aby v Káhiře pomohl svému otci z vězení. Občas se ale vyplatí podívat se na věci s odstupem a z jiného úhlu. 4) Diane Hammond: Hanin sen - Slonice Hana musí trávit dlouhé hodiny v nevyhovujících prostorách v zastaralé zoo a přes veškerou péči jsou její vyhlídky neradostné. Snad se ji jejím přátelům včas podaří přestěhovat do nového domova, kde by se sen slonice Hany, ale i jejího ošetřovatele, mohl aspoň zčásti splnit.

An elephant never forgets... This is the story of Hannah the elephant and her soon-to-be-retired keeper, Samson Brown. For forty-one years Hannah has been held in captivity at a dilapidated zoo, with Sam's company the one thing keeping her going. Sam's terrified what will happen to Hannah when he's gone, so rejoices when elephant expert Neva Wilson arrives on the scene. But can she dream? Neva quickly discovers what Sam already knows: that despite their loving care, Hannah's isolation and worsening health could be her undoing. So together they hatch a plan, to send Hannah to an elephant sanctuary - just as the zoo's spiteful director launches a campaign that spotlights Hannah as the main attraction, intricately tying Hannah's future to the fate of the zoo.

Diane Hammond’s vivid portrayal of life in the fictional small town of Hubbard, Oregon, shines in her latest novel. Returning to Hubbard, she introduces us to a cast of characters that feel like old friends. Anita and Bunny, high school pals, have taken different paths; Anita was a beauty queen runner-up while Bunny, a sweet single mother, unexpectedly married the charming Hack Neary. Now a successful salesman, Hack and Bunny enjoy a comfortable life, but after sixteen years of overlooking his white lies, Bunny is unsettled by his new flirtation and doubts about his commitment to their town. In contrast, Anita’s marriage to Bob is strained; he lacks ambition, leaving them struggling to support their family. Yet, his unwavering love for Anita and their daughter remains strong. As both women navigate their challenges, they lean on each other, discovering reserves of love and strength that help mend the wounds they unintentionally cause one another. In her darkest moments, Bunny reflects on the enduring value of love, realizing that past affections hold significant worth, no matter how much time has passed.
