Bohatě ilustrovaná odborná monografie sleduje van Gogha od raných ponurých obrazů, na nichž zachytil bídu dělníků a rolníků ve své vlasti, přes pařížské období naplněné jasnými barvami až k jeho posledním rokům stráveným pod horkým jižním sluncem v Arles.
