Dieter Lumpen zarazem wygląda i nie wygląda na klasycznego poszukiwacza przygód. Jakby chciał i nie chciał pakować się w żadne tarapaty. Nic więc dziwnego, że to właśnie sama przygoda zazwyczaj staje mu na drodze i porywa w wir wydarzeń. Dieter Lumpen jest elegancko noszącym się jegomościem o wytwornych manierach, o którego zawodzie i zarobkach niezbyt wiele wiemy. Zabiera nas w podróż z Turcji na Karaiby, po drodze przemierzając między innymi Chiny oraz Wenecję, czyli miejscastworzone, aby przeżyć w nich przygodę życia. Dieter Lumpen zadebiutował na łamach magazynu komiksowego „Cairo” w 1981 roku, a potem ukazywał się jeszcze w wielu różnych pismach aż do 1994 roku. W miarę jak zagłębiałem się w ten rysunek – połączony z opowieścią Zentnera, stanowiącą mieszankę ekstrawagancji, przygody, romansu i uwodzących scenerii – moja fascynacja rosła.
