The Fiat C.R.42 Falco was a famous Italian sesquiplane-type, single-seat, single-engine fighter and night fighter biplane with a fixed undercarriage and mixed (part metal and part canvas) metal structure, made by the famous Turin-based manufacturer in the late 1930s. It was used in World War II mainly by the Regia Aeronautica, but was also purchased by countries such as Belgium, Hungary, Finland and Sweden. The 'Falco', as the Italian aircraft was nicknamed, was the last biplane fighter in history to be built in series. Together with the British Gloster Gladiator and the Soviet Polikarpov I-15, (to which it was superior) it was also the last biplane fighter to fight in the Second World War and the last biplane in history to shoot down an enemy aircraft in 1945.

On the 13th of June of 1944, in less than an hour, at least twelve tanks, fourteen armored vehicles, two guns and a scout carrier were destroyed by a single tank. This is the striking feat of Michael Wittmann, the most famous panzer commander of the Second World War. A sensational feat that galvanized even Hitler, who in fact awarded the German officer with the Knight's Cross with Oak Fronds and Swords, the highest honor to which a tank commander could aspire. However Villers-Bocage would be his last undertaking, but certainly the most sensational. Wittman, known in his homeland as the "Black Baron" enters the legend!

This first of three volumes deals with all the artillery pieces of domestic, foreign and pre-war production used and in regular use by the Royal Italian Army in the Second World War. Each weapon is described with one or more colour profiles and an exhaustive sheet on the weapon's technique and characteristics. In the first volume, we will mainly deal with the guns inherited from the First World War, which were either domestically built or obtained as war booty, starting with the smallest calibres. In this volume, we will also present the first part of tractors used for this type of weapon.

In this first volume we present all the images realized for the volume: "Histoire del la Maison Militaire du Roi de 1814 a 1830". A great work realized in 1890 by Eugène Titeux. The work is in two volumes with a total of 84 color plates. Our edition is based almost entirely on the Viskuezzen collection, which belongs to the NYPL, to whom we are particularly grateful. We left all the captions of the plates in the original French text. All the plates have been extensively restored and, in some parts, reconstructed, since the originals preserved at the NYPL are mostly not in good condition, often assembled in rough cut-outs etc.When Louis XVIII returns to France in 1814, he intends to give back brightness to his house. The order of May 25, 1814 endorses the creation of several units, some of which had already disappeared before the revolution. In 1814, the Maison militaires du Roi consists as follows: Gardes du corps du Roi (five companies); Cent-Suisses (one company); Gardes de la Porte (one company); Gardes de la Prévôté (one company); Gardes du corps du Monsieur (two companies); Mousquetaires du Roi (two companies); Gendarmes de la Garde (one company); Chevau-légers de la Garde (one company); Grenadier at cheval de la Garde (one company).
