Kniha určená především programátorům se zkušenostmi nastiňuje problematiku programovacího jazyka C#, pomocí něhož lze vytvářet jakékoliv windowsové či webovské aplikace. Obsáhlá publikace je rozdělena celkem do šesti částí, z nichž ta první, po krátké předmluvě a seznámením s architekturou .NET, osvětluje základy jazyka C#. Následující kapitola pak přibližuje programování v .NET, především pak vývojové prostředí Visual Studio .NET, rozhraní Windows Forms a tvorbu vlastních knihoven v podobě sestavení (assembly). Třetí kapitola se zabývá programováním v Internetu, přičemž důraz je kladen na psaní komponent spouštěných na webových serverech. Následující část obsahuje informace o komponentech modelů COM a COM+. Závěr je věnován pokročilému programování v prostředí .NET, mj. zmiňuje tvorbu grafiky v prostředí GDI+, služby systému Windows či zabezpečení a způsob předávání objektu mezi aplikačními doménami, procesy a vlákny.

Představení ojedinělého programovacího jazyka Visual C++. NET, v němž lze jako jediném kombinovat řízený (managed) a neřízený (unmanaged) kód. Určení knihy programátorům předpokládá určité znalosti s technologiemi COM a ATL. Kniha je rozdělena do dvou částí. V první z nich se informuje výhradně o .NET a důsledcích jeho nástupu pro programátory. Zabývá se řízeným C++ a klíčovými oblastmi .NET z jeho hlediska, například komplety (assemblies), atributy, metadaty, ale i analýzou .NET Framework coby knihovny tříd. Druhá část se pak věnuje problematice neřízeného C++, nejdříve v kontextu úpravy staršího kódu pro jeho spolupráci s kódem psaným pro .NET Framework, poté programováním COM , novými prostředky ATL (ATL Serverem) a webovými službami ATL.
