Filippo eventually meets Shah Jehan, who is thrilled with The Ocean of the Moon, thwarting the Grand Vizier's plan. However, danger looms as Khan is killed, forcing Filippo to flee. He reaches the bandit stronghold and trades a small ring for his father, but his father, driven mad by captivity, dies on their journey home. Though embittered, Filippo finds solace years later when he returns to Hindustan with his brother, discovering that the Taj Mahal is a replica of The Ocean of the Moon, affirming their father's legacy.
