    Philippa Leathersová studovala grafický design, ilustraci a animaci a v současnosti pracuje jako nezávislá animátorka a ilustrátorka. Její první obrázková kniha, Černý králík, je inspirována jejími dvěma králíky, Benji a Kiki. Zajímá se o to, jak se jeden tvor drží druhého, což se projevuje i v jejím vyprávění.
