V druhé části se pak zabývá chybami úsudku, ať už jde o ochotu věřit nepodloženým tvrzením, nebo naopak pochybnost o tom, co je evidentně pravdivé, a doporučuje zvláště filosofům studium aplikované geometrie, jejíž výsledky lze (na rozdíl od většiny jejich nauk) ověřit v praxi.
