Nadace World Press Photo je významnou silou v rozvoji a podpoře práce vizuálních novinářů a vizuálních vypravěčů po celém světě. Vznikla v roce 1955 z iniciativy skupiny nizozemských fotografů, kteří uspořádali soutěž pro prezentaci své práce mezinárodním kolegům a sdílení znalostí.
