Český překlad Úvodu do Starého Zákona je velkým darem českým čtenářům Bible, především Starého Zákona. Jedná se o klasickou učebnici zkušených pedagogů a badatelů z Westminsterského semináře ve Filadelfii. Výčet jmen v indexu nám napovídá, že jde o dílo jak vědecky vyvážené, tak ekumenicky otevřené. Nechybí jména význačných odborníků z jednotlivých křesťanských církví, jako i jména izraelských badatelů. Úvod do Starého Zákona i po třinácti letech svobody vyplňuje zřetelnou mezeru. Český čtenář měl doposud k dispozici jen úvody k českému ekumenickému překladu (ČEP) v různých vydáních či krátké učebnicové úvody, připomínající spíše skripta určená studentům jednotlivých teologických fakult.
