Francouzský kreslíř Christophe Chabouté přímo zázračně proměnil do komiksové podoby jedno ze základních děl anglické literatury. Osudový souboj kapitána Achaba s bílou velrybou znají i ti, kteří nikdy román Hermana Melvilla nečetli, a to nejen proto, že se dočkal celé řady úspěšných i neúspěšných zpracování (jednu z komiksových verzí vytvořil i legendární Will Eisner). Moby Dick je totiž příběh, který dnes neoddiskutovatelně patří do kulturního kánonu. Také proto Chabouté neměl lehkou startovací pozici, ale jeho pojetí bez debaty bere dech. Černobílá kresba, v níž vynikne každé ráhno, uhrane čtenáře svojí atmosférou. Znovu se ocitneme na velrybářské lodi a díky Chaboutého umění ucítíte vodní tříšť a uslyšíte vítr v lanoví. Lov na Moby Dicka může začít.

Po vypuknutí americké revoluce opustí Izrael svou farmu, bojuje u Bunker Hillu, zúčastní se několika námořních bitev a je dvakráte zajat. Poválečná léta prožívá v bídě mezi londýnskou chudinou. Román obsahuje zajímavé a barvité popisy exotické přírody i vylíčení zvyků domorodců.
