Čtenářsky velmi zajímavá publikace je věnována šíření anglického jazyka i jeho lokálním proměnám a variantám v celosvětovém měřítku. Přiblížení toho, jak se klasická forma britské spisovné angličtiny „pokřivovala“ ať už samovolně nebo úmyslně, jaké vlivy bezprostředně působily na vznik těch, či oněch výrazů a frází, je cenné a povzbudivé nejen pro studenty, kteří narazili alespoň na jednoho obyvatele Skotska, ale i pro zájemce hledající hlubší jazykové poučení. Hlavní dějová linie románu se odehrává v současnosti. Mladá žena, která s dvouletou dcerkou a manželem žije v Liberci, pracuje po večerech pro literární časopis. Jednoho dne se setká s Autorem, žijícím klasikem české literatury, aby s ním udělala interview. Toto setkání promění její dosavadní život a mj. do něj tajuplným způsobem uvede reálnou historickou postavu Karoliny Světlé. Postupně se na pozadí vztahu hlavní hrdinky a Autora rozvíjí jako román v románě příběh další ženy, která žila v Liberci ve dvacátých a třicátých letech 20. století. Příběhy obou žen se propojují, až v závěru vyústí v nečekané odhalení a poznání hlavní hrdinky. Celým románem prostupuje atmosféra tajemna a napětí. Čtenář, stejně jako hlavní hrdinka, si do poslední chvíle nemůže být jist, co je iluze a co skutečnost, kde končí fikce a začíná realita. Obojí se prolíná a ovlivňuje. Román lze chápat též jako vyznání lásky k literatuře a její oslavu.

Posel je fantasticky a snově komponovaný příběh s prvky pohádkového vyprávění. Karolína se seznámí s panem Modrým a toto setkání přesměruje její život. Milostné pouto naplněné bezvýhradnou potřebou psaného slova a fyzickou touhou nabírá dimenzi snu. Dopis jako komunikační prostředek, jako zdroj listovního tajemství, dopis napsaný či nenapsaný, doručený či zdánlivě nedoručitelný se stává hybatelem děje. Když do příběhu vstoupí Adam, vydává se s ním čtenář na cestu hledání a naděje. Ne každý posel však ví, kam má doručit svěřenou zprávu. Některý musí nejprve objevit sám sebe, aby našel adresáta, a tím také smysl svého poselství.

This volume looks at territories such as reservations, model villages and collective towns as the spatial materialization of forced assimilation and „progress“. These disciplinary spaces were created in order to disempower and alter radically the behavior of people who were perceived as ill-suited „to fit“ into hegemonic imaginations of „the nation“ since the 19th century. Comparing examples from the Americas, Australia, North and East Africa, Central Europe as well as West and Central Asia, the book not only considers the acts and legitimizing narrations of ruling actors, but highlights the agency of the subaltern who are often misrepresented as passive victims of violent assimilation strategies.

Peripheries emerge as a result of shifts in economic and political decision-making at various scales. Therefore peripheral spaces are not a “natural” phenomenon but an outcome of the intrinsic logic of uneven geographical development in capitalist societies. Discussing examples from Germany, Eastern Europe, Turkey, Iraqi Kurdistan, Pakistan, India and Brazil, the volume describes the social production of peripheries from different theoretical and methodological perspectives. In so doing, it argues in favour of a re-politicization of the recent debate on peripheralization.

Und: Zufriedene Kunden empfehlen „ihr Krankenhaus“ draußen weiter – ein nicht zu unterschätzender Beitrag zum Klinikmarketing im Wettbewerb. Dienstleistungsorientierung im Krankenhaus ist einerseits eine Führungs- und Gestaltungsaufgabe, andererseits eine Haltung, die der einzelne Mitarbeiter oder das Team erlernen und umsetzen kann.
