This collection surveys the choreographic turn in the artistic imagination from the 1950s onwards, and in doing so outlines the philosophies of movement instrumental to the development of experimental dance.

Robin Rhode, born in 1976 in Cape Town, combines drawing and performance to create a sometimes grotesque effect; for example, painting the top view of a bike on a sidewalk and then photographing himself sitting on its seat, legs apart. This volume documents his drawings, photographs and videos.

André Lepecki entwickelt ein neues Verhältnis zwischen Tanz, experimenteller Kunst und philosophischer Praxis. Dazu analysiert er die Arbeiten von Choreographen wie Jérome Bel, Juan Dominguez, Trisha Brown u. a. Sein Nachdenken über Tanz und coreographische Gestalung ist dabei immer mit der Perspektive des Politischen verbunden.
