    Jill Tomlinsonová se původně nechtěla stát spisovatelkou. Vystudovala operní zpěv a poté se rozhodla založit rodinu, zatímco její hlas dozrával. Nemoci však zasáhly a ona si musela najít jiný způsob, jak využít svou energii. Začala studovat žurnalistiku a už po třetí lekci se rozhodla, že chce psát pro děti. A tak také učinila! Její zvířecí příběhy jsou velmi oblíbené a patří mezi nejprodávanější dětské knihy již téměř čtyři desetiletí.
