Vždycky existuje druhá cesta. Tony Stark vylepšil své tělo pomocí kovu... a teď stojí proti člověku, který si vylepšil přímo tělo. Čeká nás boj kovu proti masu. A v tomhle případě má maso silně navrch. Když chce Marvel znovu rozjet nějakou řadu, obvykle jí dává nějakým výrazným tvůrcům typu Kevina Smithe, Granta Morrisona, Briana M. Bendise, Gartha Ennise nebo Warrena Ellise. A ten poslední, tvůrce komiksů jako Fell či Transmetropolitan, se pustil do restartu Muže v oceli. Vrátil se k jeho minulosti, mrknul na jeho podstatu a nastavil trať vedoucí do jeho budoucnosti. V komiksu Extremis se mixují klasické ellisovské úvahy (většinou o drogách, politice a zbraních) s opravdu extrémními bitkami (v precizní malbě Adi Granova).
