Alison Bechdelová (dosud známá svým kresleným seriálem Dykes to Watch Out For) shromáždila obrázky, které si malovala od sedmé třídy, deníky, které si psala od deseti let, mapy jednoho malého městečka v Pennsylvánii, staré papírky se seznamy nákupů, fotky, dopisy, vstupenky, a od matky dostala krabici dopisů po otci. Kdybych si ten příběh měla vymyslet jako spisovatelka, nestál by za nic, tvrdí Bechdelová. Alison Bechdelová (v češtině už vyšel její grafický román Rodinný ústav, Argo 2008) kreslí od roku 1983 do současnosti komiksový seriál ze života několika amerických leseb. Jednotlivé díly vycházely v mnoha časopisech, byly přeloženy do několika jazyků a vydaly na desítky knih (naposledy mohutný výbor The Essential Dykes to Watch out for, 2008). Nyní máte v rukou výběr z dílů poprvé publikovaných v letech 1987–1992, ve kterých se seznámíte s hrdinkami Mo, Lois, Toni a Clarice, Ginger a dalšími. K nim přidáváme nadčasový kreslený příběh nazvaný Sériová monogamie.
