Práce pojednává o problematice volného času. Přibližuje přístupně boje za zkrácení pracovní doby a ostatní sociální požadavky, postupné uvolňování z dlouhého pracovního dne, problémy jeho využití, odcizení v industriální společnosti apod. Hlavně se pak zabývá "zmasověním" kulturya jeho společenskou funkcí, jež však kapitalismus odsoudil k pasívnímu prožívání. Teprve socialismus umožní aktivní využití volného času.
