    Jean Brunstetterová se začala zajímat o Amish, když poprvé přijela do Pensylvánie navštívit rodinu svého tchána. Od té doby se Jean spřátelila s několika amishskými rodinami a ráda píše o jejich způsobu života. Některé z jednoduchých praktik Amisů si také oblíbila a zařadila je do svého každodenního života. Jean žije ve státě Washington se svým manželem Richardem Jr. a jejich třemi dětmi, ale každé léto využívá k návštěvě amishských komunit v několika státech. Kromě psaní se Jean věnuje také vodním sportům, zahradničení a trávení času na pláži.
