William Law

    William Law byl anglickým knězem, jehož neochota složit přísahu věrnosti prvnímu hannoverskému panovníkovi ho stála místo na Emmanuel College v Cambridge. Tato zásadovost, která ho řadí k tzv. "ne-přísahajícím" (non-jurors), ho nakonec vedla k soukromému vyučování a rozsáhlé literární činnosti. Jeho mystické a teologické spisy, stejně jako jeho osobní integrita, silně ovlivnily evangelické hnutí své doby a osvícenské myslitele. Lawova duchovní díla jsou dodnes tištěna a čtena.
