Stojí před ní řada nezodpovězených otázek, ale především v ní hoří touha po pomstě. První díl vesmírné trilogie se ve svět sci-fi stal hned po vydání naprostou senzací a i druhý díl už je nominován na nejlepší knihu tohoto žárnu na čtenářském serveru Goodreads. Svým tématem ovšem přesahuje úzce scifistické publikum a oslovuje mnohem širší škálu čtenářů. Kniha krom celé řady jiných získala všechny tři nejprestižnější ceny v žánru sci-fi: Nebulu, Huga i cenu Arthura C. Clarka.
