Nejmenovaný pozorovatel, manžel ženy zvané A, sleduje setkávání ženy se sousedem Franckem. Nikde není ani zmínka o jejich milostném vztahu, ale je naznačen mnoha detaily. Není zde děj s časovou následností – často časové přeskoky a návraty, rekapitulace. Detailně popisuje opakující se situace. Vše je pozorováno jakoby skrz žaluzie a navzdory objektivnímu popisu událostí naznačuje subjektivní pocit žárlivosti.
