Ren Hang, who took his life February 23, 2017, was an unlikely rebel. Slight of build, shy by nature, prone to fits of depression, the 29-year-old Beijing photographer was nonetheless at the forefront Chinese artists' battle for creative freedom. Like his champion Ai Weiwei, Ren was controversial in his homeland and wildly popular in the rest of the world. He said, “I don't really view my work as taboo, because I don't think so much in cultural context, or political context. I don't intentionally push boundaries, I just do what I do.” Why? Because his models, friends, and in his last years, fans, are naked, often outdoors, high in the trees or on the terrifyingly vertiginous rooftops of Beijing, stacked like building blocks, heads wrapped in octopi, body cavities sprouting phone cords and flowers, whatever entered his mind at the moment

Zwischen 1968 und 1986 veröffentlichte Tom insgesamt 26 Folgen von Kakes Abenteuern, die meisten als 20-seitige Heftchen. Die Sammlung versammelt alle 26 Einzelgeschichten und bringt uns zurück zu einer Zeit, in der Männer noch richtige Kerle waren, Sex sorglos war und ein dicker Schnauzbart ein absolutes Muss darstellte.

In 1945 Bob Mizer began taking photographs of strapping young men on Muscle Beach in Venice, California. In December of that year he formed the Athletic Model Guild to market his photos, and "physique photography" was born. Before Mizer there were body builders and men who photographed them, but AMG photos, even those of the same men, were different, subtly provocative, discretely aimed at a gay audience. They weren't nude, but showed as much as the law allowed in 1945. ... In 1993, Roy Stuart started creating monthly photo stories for "Leg Show" magazine, collaborating with editor Dian Hanson. This boxed set features a selection of 34 stories produced for the magazine between 1995 and 2001, intended as a heartfelt gift.
