This book is about men's lives and the range of roles they play. This includes their roles as providers, defenders, and lovers. We men have barely started to reflect on these roles. Communication with others as well as reflection within oneself has never been encouraged for men. This book attempts to initiate these conversations and help men to reflect on various aspects of their lives. These discussions are therefore valuable for women also, to better understand and transform their relationship with men.

The two candles bring light first into the personal level. This is the level of finding peace, resolution and integration within oneself. The second level has to do with bringing the light of that inner peace into the world around us. This is the level of interfacing with conflicts, injustice and violence on the societal and global levels.
