Ve volném pokračování knihy TAJNÁ AGENTKA se znovu setkáváme s třináctiletou Cleo Oliverovou a prožíváme její další neuvěřitelná dobrodružství. Tentokrát se Cleo, mistryně převleků, která dokáže vyřešit i ty nejsložitější záhady, snaží proniknout do divadla na Brodwayi, kde v jednom z představení hraje hlavní roli matka její kamarádky Robbi Richardsonové. Cleo a Robbi jsou divadelní hrou nadšené, brzy však zjistí, že skutečné drama se neodehrává na jevišti, ale v zákulisí. Třináctiletá Cleo Oliverová má mindrák ze své výšky, téměř o hlavu převyšuje všechny své vrstevníky. Jednou jí matka - světoznámá modelka - z legrace oblékne do svých šatů a namaluje. Cleo se v přestrojení z náhodně vyslechlého rozhovoru tří spolužáků (jeden z nich kandiduje ve školních volbách) dozví, že chtějí zfalšovat výsledky školních voleb. I tentokrát pomáhá Cleo při řešení "případu" přítekyně Robbi, ale do svého plánu dívky zasvětí i Jansona Garreta, který je druhým kandidátem školních voleb. Plány zfalšovat volby překazí a mají i zvukovou nahrávku, na které je nahraný čin, kdy otvírali volební schránku. Všichni 3 provinilci jsou potrestáni ročním úklidem tělocvičny. Janson se stane vítězem voleb. Cleo a její přátelé se tváří, jakože o ničem nevědí víc než ostatní spolužáci.

Do třídy přichází nový chlapec Edsel-Mellon. Ukáže se, že je to syn multimilionáře. Cleo a její rodiče jsou pozváni na večírek, který pořádají Edsel-Mellonovi na své lodi. Zde se Cleo seznámí se spolužákovou sestřičkou Lillianou a jejím psím kamarádem. Závěr večírku se příliš nevydaří, protože na loď vtrhnou ekologičtí aktivisté protestující proti gigantickému projektu pana Edsel-Mellona. Ještě horší je ale to, že se ztratí Lillianin psík Bilbo. Do pátrání se kromě policie zapojuje i tajná agentka - Cleo Oliverová.
