Odvážný reportér Tintin se seznamuje s kapitánem Haddockem a zažívá s ním neuvěřitelné dobrodružství při hledání pokladu. Přitom stále naráží na dvojici popletených agentů Kadlec a Tkadlec. Kniha rozvíjí příběh komiksových alb i samotného filmu a doplňuje je o některé zajímavé detaily a epizody, takže je příjemným počtením pro všechny příznivce Tintina a jeho přátel v čele s věrným psem Filutou.
Tintin se svým věrným psem Filutou zažívají neuvěřitelné dobrodružství, když v modelu velké plachetnice najdou část mapy, která je má dovést k pohádkovému pokladu. Přitom se setkají s legračním kapitánem Haddockem, dvojicí popletených tajných agentů Kadlec a Tkadlec i mnoha nepřáteli, kteří se jim pokoušejí jejich plán zhatit. Filmový příběh je vyprávěný v jednoduché zkratce s mnoha záběry z filmu a je vhodný pro začínající čtenáře, kteří se chtějí se seznámit s odvážným reportérem.
