Monografie německo-amerického architekta Ludwiga Miese van der Rohe (1886–1969), jedné ze zakladatelských osobností moderní architektury. Mies neprošel akademickým vzděláním, jako člen Bauhausu (1930–1933 jeho ředitel) vyšel z prostého tvarosloví klasických forem. Proslavil se svou zásadou „méně je více“, která vyjadřovala jeho hledání čisté elegance architektonického výrazu. Kniha obsahuje obsáhlý úvodní biografický text a dále představuje na asi 120 ilustracích Miesovy nejvýznamnější stavby, mezi nimi Německý pavilon na Mezinárodní výstavě v Barceloně (1928–1929) nebo brněnskou vilu Tugendhat (1929–1930).
