Yates (*4.2.1972 Kent, Anglie) je britsko-americký spisovatel a autor dvou novel, z nichž první (Black Chalk) byla vydána v Británii v roce 2013 a byla vyhlášena jednou z nejlepších knih roku. Druhá novela (Grist Mill Road) byla označena The New York Times jako plná příjemně nepříjemných překvapení. Narodil se a vyrostl v Kendu v Anglii a studoval práva na Oxfordské univerzitě, kterou ukončil s nižším titulem v roce 1993). Pak pracoval jako redaktor v Londýně. Nyní žije s manželkou v New Yorku.
