Byl také automobilovým závodníkem a designérem, vládním konzultantem pro vojenské záležitosti a průkopníkem letecké dopravy, zejména jako dlouholetý šéf společnosti Eastern Air Lines.

      Eddie Rickenbacker's World War One memoirs were first published in 1919. Captain Rickenbacker, born in the USA, was best known as one of the Commanders of the 94th "Hat-in-the-Ring" Squadron, a crack unit of pilots which included many former members of the famed Lafayette Escadrille.
