“No country can, over time, be stronger than the fabric from which it is woven.” Israel’s tribal society is precariously balanced between the danger of fragmentation and the hope of accommodation. From long experience, the author believes that the key to addressing this challenge in Israel and elsewhere is a deeper understanding of the concept of “social cohesion” and the conditions conducive to its promotion. A reassessment of Israel’s democratic and society-building journeys provides much-needed hope. Civil society leaders are called on to catalyze a range of strategic initiatives to help make Israel A Place for Us All
