Third, revised edition of an Australian, pocket-sized dictionary that has concise definitions of around 40,000 words. It is adapted from the TCollins Gem English Dictionary', first published in 1902. Previous editions of the TAustralian Gem' were published in 1981 and 1988. Appendices provide additional information, including distances between Australian towns, lists of Australian governors general and prime ministers, and some notes on grammar. The Australian editor, W A Krebs, is associate professor of literature and communication at Bond University, Queensland.
