De aangifte van Spong en Hammerstein tegen politici en journalisten wegens nazi-gerelateerde beschuldigingen aan het adres van Pim Fortuyn bracht Nederland in beroering. Was dit een publiciteitsbeluste, kansloze actie? Het Openbaar Ministerie, van hogerhand aangemoedigd, seponeerde de zaak vliegensvlug. Een vijftal medeadvocaten eiste een tuchtrechtelijk onderzoek wegens `het schandalig optreden´ van het duo. Spong en Hammerstein konden echter de Deken van de Amsterdamse Advocaten er met verve van overtuigen dat het hier gaat om een alleszins terechte, en zelfs noodzakelijke actie. In `Vervolg ze tot in de hel´ (citaat van Fortuyn) stapelen zich de argumenten op elkaar om tot een doorwrochte eindconclusie te komen. Een uiterst intelligent en onderhoudend betoog ondersteund door vooraanstaande rechtsgeleerden en doorspekt met onthullende feiten en gebeurtenissen uit een woelige periode die nog niet is geëindigd. Het beroep van Spong en Hammerstein tegen het terzijde leggen van de aangifte wordt in maart 2003 behandeld door het Gerechtshof te Den Haag. Spong en Hammerstein zijn advocaten te Amsterdam.
