This book outlines the development of psychotherapy based on depth psychology, against its historical background. It provides an introduction both to the foundations of classical psychoanalysis and also current theoretical approaches and presents in particular the disturbance-specific distinctions involved in theoretical and technical treatment concepts. The book provides a modern view of depth psychology, viewed as representing multiperspective competence, illustrated with a detailed discussion of clear treatment cases. The presentation of the procedure is rounded off with discussions on the scientific evidence for efficacy.

This volume provides up-to-date insights into the psychoanalysis founded by Sigmund Freud as a treatment procedure, set in the context of its historical development and its relevance today. Important theoretical and technical treatment concepts, as well as the epistemological status of psychoanalysis, are discussed. The book is supplemented with an overview of the general and specific theory of disturbance and change in psychoanalysis and notes on the state of research, institutional structures and developments, as well as resources for further training.

Musiktherapie als psychologische Behandlung lässt sich nicht als abgeschlossenes Verfahren an Hochschulen lehren. Die Tätigkeitsbereiche von MusiktherapeutInnen sind so unterschiedlich, dass es notwendig ist, Konzepte in der konkreten Praxis im Austausch mit den Grundsätzen psychologischen Denkens zu entwickeln. Die in diesem Band zusammen gestellten Beiträge aus verschiedenen Praxisfeldern verstehen sich auch als Aufforderung zum Weiterdenken auf der Suche nach den jeweils angemessenen Formen musiktherapeutischen Handelns. Für die Neuauflage wurden die Artikel aktualisiert, ein Artikel (Kunkel) durch einen neueren Aufsatz ersetzt sowie ein Artikel (Grootaers) zu einer Konzeption offener musiktherapeutischen Gruppenarbeit hinzugefügt.
