The International Symposium on Information Science (ISI) is a biannual event uniting scholars, researchers, and students from Europe and beyond, focusing on critical information issues in contemporary society. Originally rooted in the German-language information science community, the symposium has evolved into a more international platform. The 14th edition, ISI 2015, will be held in Zadar, Croatia, from May 19 to May 21, 2015. It is organized by the Department of Information Sciences at the University of Zadar, the German Academic Association for Information Science, and the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). This year's conference occurs amid significant changes in our networked society, where recent internet advancements have led to unprecedented data access and analytical tools that help users identify patterns through big data. Additionally, user-friendly web services empower individuals to become information producers, a phenomenon referred to as the "social web." Collaboration, information sharing, and distribution in science increasingly rely on network technologies, and these developments will be a central focus of discussions at ISI 2015, highlighting their impact on both information science and practice.
