In vorliegender Studie wird aus organisationstheoretischer Perspektive die Frage untersucht, wie in Netzwerken über organisationale und nationale Grenzen hinweg die Aktivitäten zwischen Organisationen aufeinander abgestimmt werden können. Die Arbeit analysiert die spezifischen Erscheinungsformen von Commitments in Netzwerken von Nonprofit-Organisationen als zentralen sozialen Mechanismus zur Koordination der horizontalen Beziehungen und geht der Frage nach, unter welchen Bedingungen sich dabei Wandlungsprozesse zwischen den Polen der Stabilität und Flexibilität im Netzwerk vollziehen. Im Ergebnis wird auf der Basis der Unschärfe der Commitments ein vielschichtiger Prozess der mehrwertigen Logik im Kontrast zu , Entweder-Oder'-Lösungen dargelegt, der den Akteuren im Netzwerk in Differenz zur organisationsinternen Vorgehensweise ein hohes Maß an Handlungsflexibilität bei gleichzeitiger Stabilität gewährt.
