Standingova dnes již proslulá kniha Prekariát: Nová nebezpečná třída (2011) je první zprávou o rychle rostoucí sociální třídě, která zahrnuje lidi vystavené ekonomické nejistotě a odsouzené ke střídání nesmyslných a nevalně placených „džobů“ bez možnosti profesního rozvoje.
